On Monday October 8, 2012, the first Barber School in Atlantic Canada, since 1991 opened at the Eastern College Campus in Saint John.
The New Brunswick Registered Barbers’ Association and Eastern College entered into a partnership to bring new barbers into being once again. Blaine Harris, the Registrar of the Association, said, “It’s a great day for New Brunswick to have young people study the barber trade, keeping the oldest occupation known to man alive”.
The school has students from Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick registered and a waiting list for the next class.
The course will run for 25 weeks and teach all aspects of barbering to include Science, Sanitation, Biology and haircutting and shaving.
